FIFA World Cup 2022 controversies:

Many people including various media outlets have raised a question regarding Qatar being a suitable option for hosting this tournament. There are many concerns regarding the allowance of alcohol consumption during the event which otherwise is not permitted in Qatar. FIFA officials were also blamed for corruption with respect to allowing the host to take away the World Cup.

Some other groups like Human Rights activists and Climate activists have expressed concern over the treatment of construction workers and that the climatic conditions of the country are not feasible to host such a large-scale tournament.

Another concern that continues to prevail among all the international tournament federations is the fact that this World Cup 2022 is staged in November. This is because it directly interferes with the regular scheduled seasons of other domestic leagues. However, the dates have been adjusted in such a way that it doesn’t affect any of the matches. But the clash is definitely perceived to cause a certain disturbance.

Qatar’s diplomatic crisis is another reason for the controversial environment around the World Cup. Countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia have cut ties with the host country referring to the disregarding of religion and supporting the terrorist groups. They have also pitched an official letter asking FIFA to replace Qatar as the World Cup host.

Conclusion:

Apart from all this, Qatar is also facing strong criticism for the treatment of workers involved in the preparation for the World Cup. People are accusing the host in fueling forced labor and torturous work culture. All these controversies and rumors are substantial in nothing else but fueling the fire of marketing of the entire event. Fans and audience love football as a sport and are already more invested and interested to witness it happen.

The official mascot is named La’eeb which means a super skilled player in Arabic. The official ball is named “Al Rihla”. It is inspired by the heritage and culture of the host country- Qatar. The official song is called “Hayya” translated to “better together”. There is enough buzz around the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the camaraderie between the FIFA World Cup 2022 teams. It will be nothing short of a treat for real football fans out there!
